Day 4

Posted by admin on February 16, 2012 in Uncategorized

So, made it through last night, I did break down and have a carrot and a banana but that was about it. I woke up quite a bit last night, felt like I was going to get one of those leg cramps that tighten your calf, I know it’s not a vitamin thing due to the juice, oxygen due to cpap, so I assumed dehydration and drank a few glasses of water each time I woke up. It may help explain why I again weighed in at 209lbs. But that’s still a net 5lb weight loss so I’ll take that!

This morning once again did the Green Grape and Pear Juice. It was once again good. For lunch I went back to the Blackberry Kiwi Juice, this one is probably one of my favorites.

I was extremely hungry today, so I ate a banana, 2 carrots and a jalapeno pepper. Still hungry but manageable. My wife made a super mixture juice when she got home and we split it. After we go upstairs to watch the rest of the family eat dinner we are going to have a pineapple smoothie with just pineapple and ice.

It was damp and rainy and cold out today so I just exercised around the house today, did a bunch of exercises, like jumping jacks and such for a 1/2 hour. I walked around the house too and up an down the stairs. It’s not the funnest things but it works.

Day 3

Posted by admin on February 15, 2012 in Uncategorized

So last night I broke down and had popcorn again, but I started the morning off at 206lbs and had an Apple-Cantaloupe-Honeydew-Kale-Swiss Chard Juice to kick things off! It was very good! I didn’t have any honeydew so I just doubled the amount of cantaloupe in the recipe, my 22 year old tried it and actually said it didn’t taste bad so that’s a good sign!

I’m having a ton of cravings today for actual physical food, I managed to avoid the temptation currently, and hope to through out the day.

So I made it to lunch without breaking down and made myself a Blackberry Kiwi again. I made it through lunch and man I’m really craving and missing solid food! It’s gonna be a rough day!

Before my wife came home I prepped and made a Carrot Apple Ginger Juice. It was actually pretty decent, my 8 year old tried it and didn’t care much for it. I laid down for a bit as I was tired a slept a few minutes.

At lunch today I just did some maintenance around the house and got the fireplace all set up so I could make a fire before my wife got home. I did firewood this evening and loaded up my wood rack, my wife made me a juice with beets, carrots, oranges and spinach, it was good. I’m thinking if I can make it through tonight I should be good, I realllllly want food. My wife made some humus and we have carrots and peppers we can use with it if I need a healthy snack. Here’s hoping I can hold out till morning!

Day 2

Posted by admin on February 14, 2012 in Uncategorized

I weighed myself this morning, 209lbs so lost 5 since yesterday, probably water weight but it’s a good feeling seeing the scale go down!

This morning I started my day off with a Minty Fresh Berry Juice. So far it’s my favorite one!
For lunch I did the ABC’s Juice. This was actually very good, I’m getting used to beets which is good since I don’t really like to eat them. I will admit there’s an odd side effect from eating too many beats, if you aren’t aware of it, don’t worry, it’s not bad, just odd…..
For an afternoon snack I made a Purple Power Juice so that she could have some when she got home, and my 8 year old could have some when he got off the school bus, it was enjoyed by all and is one of the few in the lead for our favorites so far!
At lunch today I again did firewood for 1/2 hour, good work and with a really warm nice winter so far in the northeast it was great to be outside!
After our snack juice we had to run to the grocery store to stock back up on fruits and veggies, then we decided to go the mall and walked around for 45 minutes or so.
When we got home we went up to my in laws, they make dinner every night for us and my mother in law is convinced I’m going to get sick and die from this juice diet. I assured her I feel great and so far, so good, however she did make a realllllly great looking and smelling pizza to try and tempt me I believe! I was however resolute and abstained. Once back down stairs I made the ABCs Juice again for my wife and I to split.
Tonight we are going to try and make the Chipotle Garlic Kale Chips to snack on later on tonight.

So at almost the close of day 2, I’m feeling great! I hope this keeps up, I did have 1 diarrhea incident today, but fortunately working from home helps!

And so it begins……….

Posted by admin on February 13, 2012 in Uncategorized

So a good friend of mine recommended about a year ago that I watch Fat Sick & Nearly Dead as I was Fat, Sick and Extremely Tired! I was diagnosed with sleep apnea around that time and thanks to finally getting a good nights sleep I was able to eat better and lost about 20 lb’s. I just watched the afore mentioned movie and while I’m way ahead of where I was a year ago, I still seem to get sick more than I probably should and I’ve gained about a 1/3rd of the weight back. After watching the movie, I was motivated not only for the benefits of the weight loss but for the total body benefits as well, my cholesterol and liver functions tests were bad when they diagnosed me for sleep apnea, but with sleep and eating right and exercising I was able to avoid any medications, I do need to go for follow up blood tests so I thought that this would be a great time to try this!

I weighed myself this morning, at 214lbs, so we’ll see if my weight improves as well as my general health and energy. I read up on juicers in consumer reports and while there is a wide range in prices I didn’t want to go overboard to start and was surprised that their best buy was also available at Amazon with prime shipping and was more than $20 lower than the price consumer reports had listed. I went with the Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro Juice Extractor. It’s only been a day so far but it’s been incredibly easy to use, setup and clean, which were all important to me as they lowered the barrier to entry for this plan.

I started my morning out with a recipe from the Join the Reboot.com Website:
BBQ Blow Out Juice.

This was pretty decent, don’t know why they called it BBQ as it tasted nothing like it but not a bad way to start the day.

I then followed that up with a lunch of Green Grape and Pear Juice.

This was pretty darn good, I didn’t peel the Lime and so it had a very strong Lime taste, my 8 year tried it and it was too strong for him, so next time I’ll peel it.

When my wife came home from work, we decided to split a Blackberry Kiwi.

This was really good and my 8 year approved slightly of it, so that’s a plus. I would make this one again.

Since we all split it, we decided to make another one, my wife found a gazpacho recipe in one of her books, and that was nasty, my wife finished hers but I couldn’t.

We ended the evening with a fruity concoction from my wife, which was a hit with all including our 8 year old and 22 year old.

I’ve also decided to try to keep my activity level up as well, today at lunch I refilled the firewood rack, and I’m about to go for a walk, at least a 1/2hr in duration.

So… day one is almost done, so far, so good!
